> ## Agent Instructions
> Bitnob API requests authenticate with an `X-Auth-Client` API key header against https://api.bitnob.com.
> Always use the sandbox environment for testing. Never put live API keys in sample code.
> Money amounts are integers in the smallest unit of the currency (satoshis for BTC, cents for fiat). Never use floats.
> Every state-changing request takes a client-supplied `reference` and must be treated as idempotent on retry.
> Quotes expire. Re-quote rather than reusing a stale quote id.

# Introduction to the Bitnob APIs

> Bitnob's two APIs: Business for moving money across Africa, Enterprise for non-custodial wallets. What each does and where to start.

Bitnob is financial infrastructure for bitcoin, stablecoins, and local currency rails across Africa. You build on it through one of two APIs:

| | Bitnob Business API | Bitnob Enterprise API |
| - | - | - |
| What it is | Bitnob holds the balance and settles payouts, cards, trades, and deposits for you. | Non-custodial wallets with policy-governed signing across chains. |
| Base URL | `https://api.bitnob.com` | `https://api.platform.bitnob.com` |
| Authentication | HMAC-signed requests | An `X-API-Key` header |

Not sure which you need? [Choose a product](https://www.bitnob.dev/docs/choose-a-product.md) compares them in more detail.

## Get started

Both APIs start from the same Bitnob account. Set it up once, then follow the quickstart for the API you're using.

>
> Register, then create Business API credentials or Bitnob Enterprise API keys.

## What you can build with the Bitnob Business API

Each product has its own guides and endpoints. Most integrations use two or three.

## What you can build with the Bitnob Enterprise API

## A typical Business API integration

Most Business API products follow the same shape, so learning one carries over to the rest.

**1. Create a customer**

Cards and most virtual accounts belong to a customer. Balances belong to your account.

**2. Fund a balance**

Receive bitcoin or stablecoins to an issued address, or take NGN through a virtual account.

**3. Quote, then execute**

Conversions and payouts are quoted first. A quote is only valid for a limited window.

**4. Confirm with a webhook**

Money movement settles asynchronously. Treat the webhook as the source of truth, not the API response.
